Experience

London's dining scene has just gained another reason to celebrate the weekend, as SUSHISAMBA Covent Garden introduces SAMBABRUNCH – a monthly Sunday spectacular that transforms the final Sunday of each month into an unforgettable fusion of flavours, rhythms, and pure Brazilian energy.
Taking place from 11:30am to 5:00pm on the last Sunday of every month, this vibrant new experience promises to transport guests straight to the heart of Brazil without requiring a passport. The moment one steps through the doors, the celebration begins with hip-swaying Samba dancers, live DJ sets from DJ KAYA, and an atmosphere charged with the infectious energy that SUSHISAMBA has become renowned for.
The experience begins in true SUSHISAMBA style, with guests greeted by a carefully curated welcome cocktail selection. Diners can choose from the classic Margarita featuring Patrón Silver tequila with triple sec and lime, Brazil's national Caipirinha made with Leblon cachaça churned with lime and sugar, or the innovative Shiso Mary – a bold fusion of Grey Goose vodka, sake, Momotaro tomato juice, wasabi, shiso, and ponzu that perfectly embodies the restaurant's Japanese-Brazilian-Peruvian philosophy.
The heart of SAMBABRUNCH lies in its chef-curated four-course menu, masterfully crafted by Chef Director Lee Bull. This sharing-style feast showcases the restaurant's signature blend of Japanese, Brazilian, and Peruvian influences, creating a culinary adventure that celebrates the diversity and boldness of these three remarkable cuisines.
The experience begins with an array of small plates designed for the table to share, including sea salt and lime edamame, crispy yellowtail taquitos with avocado and miso, truffle butter pão de queijo, and fresh guacamole accompanied by crispy corn tortillas. These opening dishes set the tone for the flavour journey ahead, balancing familiar comfort with exciting innovation.
For the main course, guests can select from an impressive range of large plates, each offering its own distinct character. The Asahi braised beef comes paired with sweet corn pancakes and rocoto honey, while the vegetarian-friendly mushroom tobanyaki features a poached egg, assorted mushrooms, truffle, yuzu soy, and garlic chips. Seafood enthusiasts might opt for the bamboo roasted sea bass with quinoa and citrus salt, or indulge in the premium robata black cod with Peruvian asparagus and miso for an additional supplement.
The sushi and sashimi selection continues the sharing theme, featuring the signature Buranchi roll with smoked salmon, shrimp tempura, cream cheese, and capers, alongside spicy tuna with spicy mayo and a carefully curated sashimi assortment of salmon, yellowtail, and tuna.
The culinary journey concludes with a dessert assortment that perfectly captures SUSHISAMBA's innovative spirit. The Japanese apple crumble with soy toffee sauce and coconut crumble offers an East-meets-West interpretation of a classic comfort dessert, while the chocolate banana cake with maple butter and vanilla rum ice cream provides rich, indulgent satisfaction. The Limonero presents a more refined conclusion with its lemon sphere, nectarine and apricot mousse, and bergamot meringue – a testament to the kitchen's technical prowess and creative vision.
SAMBABRUNCH takes place on the last Sunday of every month at SUSHISAMBA Covent Garden from 11:30am to 5:00pm. Priced at £65 per person, with children under 10 at £32. Reservations recommended.
Located at the famed Opera Terrace atop the historic Grade II-listed Market Building, this striking space is a vibrant addition to the area. Crowned by an Eric Parry-designed glass roof, the restaurant runs along the entire east side of the market making for beautiful rooftop views across the piazza. Bold in design, SUSHISAMBA Covent Garden offers a host of inviting dining and drinking experiences: from the bar with its ‘living canopy ceiling’, the exposed kitchen and high energy sushi bar, to the terrace overlooking The Piazza below, and the private dining room with its own entrance and terrace. From Japanese tempura and sushi, to Brazilian churrasco and moqueca, to Peruvian anticuchos and seviches, the culinary creativity is limitless with something for every palate. The open kitchen and fiery robata grill offer brilliantly roasted and flavored meats, vegetables and fish, while SUSHISAMBA’s conceptual small plate style of service encourages a “shared” dining experience.
